“It would be a box office hit if it was ever made into a Hollywood movie!”

A true masterpiece from the master story teller Sidney Sheldon. I bet many book lovers would have  this one in their favorite list. and  its the most famous book by Sheldon. Also this one occupies the top 1 , listed  terms of reader base. This is my third read of Sidney , first being Doomsday Conspiracy and the second  Tell me your dreams. Undoubtedly If tomorrow comes is my new favorite of Sheldon. I have aplenty  reasons to like this book and an iota amount of dislike though. This wasn’t at all boring , like the other two mentioned books. It moved at a steady pace and never my guess was correct in this fateful story of Tracy Whitney.

One thing I loved about Sidney Sheldon is that , he establishes the characters firmly to the story line (that is far different even from the imagination) so that you wouldn’t stop admiring them. Such are the characters of Tracy Whitney , Jeff Stevens , Ernestine , Cooper , Reynolds, and so on… Perhaps he makes oneself keep betting to guess what’s next exciting thing going to happen in the story.

What a huge difference between the lady  at the beginning of the story fearing  What if tomorrow comes  and the same lady at the end cheerfully dreaming about happiness awaiting  which tomorrow brings in. Its all her destiny. The transformation of the innocent lady into a powerful , witty , clever and the best con player is very convincing and acceptable. Every episode leaves you no time for guessing and keeps engaged to enjoy the twists in the story. Hardly one could anticipate what’s in the store from the story teller. Tracy’s tryst with Stevens, their mutual love episodes all are too good.Their friction in every aspect amuses the reader and makes the book furthermore readable.

If tomorrow comes is a true page turner, fast–paced story that fills you with several  kinds of emotions and overall a very good read.

Bridging the Personal Space

I believe the past five months have brought a change in me and my thought process , almost cold turkey. Thanks to the delay made by Satyam ,be it for the Market down or internal problems in the firm. I had enough of time to spend with my Mom. I have learned a lot about the relationships and emotions. Also, this short period helped me to imbibe patience and the importance of loneliness which promotes the thought process to the consummate levels. Its good to spend in silence and viewing things from the birds point-of-view.

My Mom is bedridden since five months for the ailments that the ladies of her age generally suffer from. One being a bone fracture , a neuro-system disorder and now the damn Diabetes. Whatever , I am happy that she is recovering fast and wish I could see her leading the same old lifestyle very soon. I had long chats, conversations completely unrelated to the situation just to distract and forget the present state of oneself.Sometimes I  had to shout at her for her ignorance and the way she responded to the problem that she is facing. What I noticed most importantly is that deceased become mentally weak ,feeling that they are physically weak. Its for this reason that bedridden victims should have a support from the loved ones, to part off the negatives and bring in happiness. She is happy too about our relationship strengthening now-a-days.

I always envied at my friend’s families and their parent-children relationships.Despite of having a constructive approach, I hated the way my family emotions are built (like a pack of cards).  Though,I had the thought of repairing the situation, but I gave up many a times trying to do so. At least now ,I got a chance to know how things should work in a family and the importance of it.

Orkut where are you going?

Right from introducing Open Social Apps in the initial stages only in India*, multiple photos upload, viewing friends updates, offering a limit of 10,000 photos, photo tagging, status updates, photo comments, and many more… to the events segment today, orkut team has been desperately trying to introduce different things before people could recognize the essence of other social places like Facebook , MySpace etc..But its too late, with ever growing horizons of internet, people need a change every now and then.

Hardly, I can find anything new in this whole development! of adding features as stated above. Added to this , those annoying long links including the word Main#Profile , Main#Albums……… maked load pages with half its original speed. Despite all these facts I myself and many other people are still using orkut only because it’s really hard to go cold turkey by transitioning from one social place to other where oneself finds deserted  or  at least diluted!

Though I have used orkut extensively for a while in the year 2006, being new to the socializing concept , soon I realized the obsession I was getting into and also the need for  getting out of that  hell. Indeed orkut made life easier by bringing all the friends on a platform but for one reason I hate this that people use it like an IM and go crazy about flooding scrapbooks with scripts. And yes with the word scripts I remember the spamming messages and the whooping number of fake profiles which try to peep into your profile and look for a beautiful girl’s face( if any). You shouldn’t be surprised at finding your photo with some vile language in a fake profile. It’s inevitable. Can’t Orkut’s engineering team do something about stopping those scripts from executing.

Let it be what it is, nothing more, nothing less

You are prompted to surpass the hurdle of scrapping someone inclusive of a URL ,by verifying a CAPTCHA image that is really good to prevent spam. But I wonder how come the automated scripts like scrap all don’t need any such thing which floods scrapbooks with n number of crap links. Also when someone says that its no problem to use one’s real image as a profile picture, slam them. One can easily block the image b.gif and grab the required picture or else the conventional method of print screen is always at hand.

I hear aplenty news about the cyber crimes through orkut like the murders that happened in the past , trapping of girls and raping them, etc… Perhaps, the only good news I knew about relations through orkut was some  orkut mates getting married. Below is a piece of evidence for such a thing titled
Jab They Met –Online.

Summing up such a long post, I can say that Orkut can still do a lot, to keep things cleaner and promote a healthier social community. Also Google failed miserably in competing with its counterparts like Facebook, MySpace, etc… only because of its slow development and also mediocre features.
